A few places have become available in the Annie Jr ensemble. If you are aged 8 – 16 years and would like to take place in this fantastic show which is being performed in early August please contact secretary(a)kvods.com
As you may be aware Young KVODS were chosen to perform at the Woking Drama Festival. On Thursday 8th October they performed ‘Rags to Riches’ by Richard Roberts. We were given fantastic comments from the adjudicator.
The adjudicator was asked to recall 2 plays to perform again at the awards evening held on Saturday 17th October. He was asked to choose 2 plays that he believed would give a varied evening of entertainment and we were thrilled when Young KVODS were chosen to perform.
The group performed to an almost sold out auditorium at the Rhoda McGaw Theatre on the awards evening and then settled down to hear the announcement of nominations and winners.
We are ecstatic to announce that we won Best Youth play of the Festival!! We would also like to congratulate Jan Smith, our wardrobe mistress, who won the adjudicator’s award. This was awarded to her for her absolutely fantastic costumes.
We would also like to congratulate the following from Rags to Riches for the indicated nominations:
Best Director – Jeff Raggett
Best Youth Actor – Roger Dipper for his portrayal of the General
Best Sound – Darren Lord
Technical Excellence

We are currently thinking of setting up a new section of KVODS, entitled ‘Mini KVODS’
This section of the society will be for 5 to 8 year olds who would like to perfom in one musical / concert a year. The final details have not been confirmed yet but are likely to be as follows:
The group would meet once a week on a Wednesday evening, from approx 6 to 6.30pm. They would perform one musical a year in a small venue (somewhere like the village hall). A membership & show fee would be payable per year to take part.
We are limiting numbers for this group to 20 children per show, once the group has been established those who have already performed in Mini KVODS would be given priority places for the following year.
We know that there will be some overlap with children aged 8 years moving from Mini KVODS into Young KVODS and this will be determined on an individual basis according to birth dates & when the month in which shows are performed.
If you know of a potential Mini KVOD
please email secretary(a)kvods.com asap
Here are photos from Young KVODS production of ‘Guys & Dolls Jr’. More to be added soon!! These were taken at the dress rehearsal of the show by Brad Waldron
We are thrilled to announce that Young KVODS 2010 show will be Annie Jr. The performances will take place in July (dates to be confirmed). This is a wonderfully adapted version of Anniejust for youth members! This means that every part in the show, including Miss Hannigan, Oliver Warbucks, Rooster etc will be played by someone aged 16 or under!!
We are looking for a maximum cast of 50 children aged 8 – 16 years. We are expecting a lot of interest in this show and therefore places in the cast will be given to current members first. Membership auditions for any remaining places will then be carried out on a first come first served basis from the date an enquiry email was received.
If we have more children wanting to take part than we have spaces then a waiting list will be drawn up in order of date of enquiry and parents will be contacted if and when a place becomes available.
At the moment we believe we have spaces for approximately 10 new members so please send all enquiries to secretary(a)kvods.com
Please note that although current members get priority places in the cast if they wish to be considered for any type of speaking or singing role they still have to undertake principal auditions just as new members.
We would like to announce that the winner of the I POD shuffle draw held during show week of Disco Inferno is C Schusler of East Horsley.
Thank you to all those who entered
Julie
