The show runs from Wednesday 26th to Saturday 29th, 7.30pm at Performing Arts Centre, Kingston Grammar School, London Road, Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, KT2 6PY. Tickets cost £15.50 for adults, £13 for senior citizens & full time students & £10.50 for KVODS patrons and children under 16 years. Please note there are no concessionary prices for the Friday & Saturday evening performances.

The critically acclaimed ‘Rock Opera’ from Tim Rice and the men behind the music of Abba and Mamma Mia is KVODS next show.

 

 

Set during the later years of the Cold War, Hungarian refugee Florence is second to the American Chess Champion Freddie Trumper, who is also challenged for his title by Russian Anotoly Siergiesky. Things would be simple if all they did was play chess, but love, politics and intrigue get in the way.

 

 

This rollercoaster of a musical will take audiences from Italian mountain towns to the streets of Thailand and beyond.

 

 

Music including: ‘Chess’, ‘Mountain Duet’, ‘Anthem’,  ‘Bangkok’ / ‘One Night in Bangkok’, ‘Heaven Help My Heart’,  ’I Know Him So Well’ and ‘Pity the Child’

 

 

 

First meeting and Chess chat: Wed 8th June, 8:00pm. This is an opportunity to hear about the show, meet the production team etc. Please note the following:

 

All new members must undertake a membership audition & pay their membership fee prior to the principal auditions. Membership costs £30 (£15 for seniors & students). A show fee is also payable to take part in the show, amount to be confirmed but is generally in the region of £65 – £80 (£45 – £60 for seniors & students)

 

Membership audition comprises of singing a verse & chorus of any song of your choice acapella & also reading a short piece of dialogue which is given on the audition evening.

The show runs from Wed 1st to Sat 4th June, 7.45pm  at Hampton Hill Playhouse, 90 High Street, Hampton Hill. Tickets cost £15 for adults, £12.50 for senior citizens & full time students & £10 for KVODS patrons.

 

HMS ‘Starship’ Pinafore takes the traditional story of HMS Pinafore and re-imagines it for the 21st century. The ‘ship’ of the original is now a starship. the crew is now a motley collection of aliens, androids and ‘other wordly’ types.

Prepare to be beamed on board for a galactic space opera like no other….

 

Also showing Trial by Jury. This classic tale is given an 80s makeover, complete with shoulderpads, tantrums and Dynasty style cliffhangers.

 

Whether you are a G&S afficionado or new to the world of Gilbert and Sullivan, this tribute to two of their best loved works will entertain, amuse and most definitely offend…. you have been warned!

 

Due to material content & language the show is only recommended for those 15 years & over, there is therefore no child price ticket for this show.

Male 14 – 16
Part of the comedy duo with O’Dreary. A foolish policeman – has dialogue only.
O’Dreary
10 – 16
Part of the comedy duo with Smolksy, his sidekick – has dialogue only.
Lena Marelli
Female 11 – 16
She believes she is the ‘best’ singer in the world! She has a huge show song to pull off and also has dialogue. Think moody superstar.
Angelo
Male or Female 8 – 16
A member of Fat Sam’s gang. Has a few lines of dialogue and also sings ‘Bad Guys’ with the rest of the gang.

We hope that there is something above that interests all our current and prospective new members of KVODS until the end of 2012!! All of the above are open to those aged 16 years & over (if you are 16 then you must have completed your GCSE’s)
 
 
We are also delighted to announce that to kick off our 70th anniversary year in 2013 we have decided to perform a play. We are thrilled to say we have been granted the rights to perform Calendar Girls. This wonderful play is on limited release for 12 months from 1 Sep 2012 and is currently on tour in the UK. A very British story, with a very British heart, the play is based on an uplifting and very inspiring true story that is quirky, poignant and hilarious. Our production will take place in Jan 2013. We will of course also be offering 2 great musicals in 2013 for the adult company.
