KVODS is a friendly society based in Kingston Vale, just outside Kingston upon Thames, performing 2 major musical theatre productions per year. New members are always welcome, both for on-stage, and back/off-stage activities. We rehearse Mondays and Wednesdays, 8pm until 10pm. Please see the links on the right for more information and forthcoming events. We have recently re-formed our youth group for people aged 8 – 16 years. The show is taking place at the Performing Arts Centre, Kingston Grammar School.  It runs from 26th to 30th October and all seating is reserved.

With fabulous reviews for the last show ‘One Vision’, with the last night being sold out (over 200 tickets!) you certainly dont want to leave it to the last minute to book tickets for JCS!!

They were chosen to perform at the festival after winning best youth group at the Woking Drama Festival last year with the fantastic play Rags to Riches by KVODS member Richard Roberts.

Richard adapted his childrens book of the same name into a stage play specifically for Young KVODS to be able to enter 2 drama festivals last year. We are so thrilled he agreed and hope that the win is the beginning of a great future for both Young KVODS and Rags to Riches.

Thank you to all those who supported us by coming to see the play at Leatherhead Drama Festival / Woking Drama Festival / the awards night at Woking or the All Winners in Thurrock.

What a fantastic show, from start to finish you didn’t have time to take a breath and that was just us in the audience. It was slick, sharp and full of enthusiasm. Normally you can find something to moan about in a show like this and I do like to have a moan (it comes with being old) but no, it was as close to perfection as you can get.

To your Producer, Musical Director, Choreographer, Costume Controller, Lighting and Sound I raise my hat, BRILLIANT. If I had to pick one piece of business it was when the Witch in her magnificent dress and tall hat with the help of the chorus actually looked as if she was flying.

The timing of this was perfect and so was the effect, I like things like that, very clever. How any of you got changed so quickly I do not know considering the confines back stage. Well done everyone and I believe that includes Jeff Raggett

On leaving the theatre I noticed that I had won a prize in the raffle. A perfect ending to a perfect night.

Good luck with the rest of the week and if anyone reading this has not seen this show get your tickets quick coz there ain’t going to be any left now that the word is OUT!

I know I must be highly prejudiced as I have rubbed shoulders on stage with about half the cast and half the fun is seeing what so-and-so is up to in the show. You have a real humdinger of a show with an almost seamless sense of it being professional but it is better than that as last night there was the unbridled enthusiasm of a fully committed cast in it for the sheer pleasure.  Hats off yes to everyone and yes we the audience, thanks to some brilliant lighting can see everyone’s contribution. I only knew about half the musicals represented and now want to see the other half. Your ‘Hairspray’ set was just such a pleasure and if I attempt to come and see it again that was one of the things to bring me back despite the undisciplined distractions of your stage mother!  I cannot do Friday but Thursday is a possibility. To see how people are growing in confidence on stage like Aidan and Richard and Dave of course and the steady stream of brilliant new girls and the combining of the not so new girls (!) and of course the Chairman boy Wale taking centre stage with ‘We Will Rock You’ – nothing short of iconic!

Bravo darlings, be sure to really enjoy it as the audiences get larger … you’ll bring the house down.
