2008 SHOW

1. We are thrilled to announce that the July 2008 show will be ‘Guys & Dolls Jr’. This show has been specifically adapted by the license holders with youth groups in mind. Adult companies are not allowed to perform ‘Guys & Dolls’ as it has recently been on in the West End so we decided to let the youth group have a go at the younger version!

Parents – it would really help if you could buy a copy of the musical to have a look at (though this is not essential). The show will be almost identical to the film, although a couple of songs are not in the show. Please note this is a youth show and they will NOT be wearing some of the more revealing costumes that are in the film. All costumes will be suitable for the age of the youth group members.

2. Rehearsals will take place on Monday or Wednesday evenings from 6.45 – 7.45pm at Kingston Vale Hall. Please note we will confirm the day asap but it is likely to be Wednesday. These rehearsals will start in January.

3. The show will take place from Wednesday 16th to Saturday 19th July 2008 at Kingston Grammar School Theatre. The theatre seats 176 people per night.

4. Children who did not take part in ‘Oliver!’ with us will have to do a membership audition. I promise you this is absolutely painless!! We will just ask you to sing part of a song. For those who were not in Oliver! and who do not do our xmas do we will also ask you to read a small piece of dialogue.

5. Membership to KVODS costs £10 per year which gives you the right to perform as chorus in our shows, audition for principal roles, get invites to our social events & newsletters.

6. There will be a production fee for the show – amount to be determined on location & costume needs. This is likely to be in region of £35, payable before the show happens.

7. If you would like a principal part in the show then you will have to audition. Again, completely painless and you will have rehearsed the audition pieces.

8. We will ask you to supply your own black jazz shoes for the show. These can be bought from dance shops. They are a very good investment as you will be asked to wear them in every show.

9. All roles in the youth group show will be covered by the youth group! NO adults will be on stage with you

10. For KVODS the youth group shows are going to be just as important as our adult shows. You will have flyers, microphones, lighting, costumes, a theatre etc etc – just as we do for our adult company.
