Welcome to the KVODS Web-site!

KVODS is a friendly society based in Kingston Vale, just outside Kingston upon Thames, performing 2 major musical theatre productions per year. New members are always welcome, both for on-stage, and
back/off-stage activities. We rehearse Mondays and Wednesdays, 8pm until 10pm. Please see the links on the right for more information and forthcoming events. We have recently re-formed our youth group for people aged 8 – 16 years. Please see the ’Young KVODS‘ page for more details.
KVODS have recently learnt that their home, Kingston Vale Village Hall, is being put up for sale.
If the hall is not sold within a specific time frame then the building will be closed and never used again. If it is sold then it is highly likely that the new buyers will not let us rehearse or perform there.
Either scenario means that KVODS will be homeless and we are all really upset about this. Anyone who has seen or performed in a show at the hall knows what a truly amazing and fantastic experience it is.
We have therefore decided that the only way forward to try and save KVODS home is to try and buy the hall ourselves. This is going to cost approx £300,000 and then a further £200,000 to renovate.
As a registered charity we are hoping to hold as many fundraising events as possible and we are starting this by doing the following:
We would urge each one of you to donate a minimum of £1 to KVODS. A new account is being set up specifically for this purpose and details will be posted soon. In turn you tell all your friends about the scheme and ask them to donate and so it continues.
ALL money raised will go towards buying the hall, if we are not able to raise enough money then the amount already donated & raised will go towards funding a new home as close to KV as possible.
We have also set up a group on facebook for this purpose – please feel free to join…….
Please please help us keep our home.
The box office for Young KVODS production of Disco Inferno is now open and tickets are selling well! Please don’t miss out on this fantastic new 1970′’s musical which includes many of the well known hits from that era.
You can book tickets by calling the box office on 07789 344063, emailing youthboxoffice(a)kvods.com or visiting www.ticketsource.co.uk/youngkvods
Please note that if you are paying via credit card on the ticket source website then a small booking fee applies.
Please come and support the future generation of KVODS!

I have received a lovely letter from an audience member of Smokey Joe’s Cafe and wanted to share this with you.
Mrs Reader writes:
Dear Mr Roberts, cast & crew of KVODS
I am the grandmother of one of your cast – Kate Filmer – in Smokey Joe’s Cafe which was performed last week in Kingston. It was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed it, as good as some of the shows I’ve seen in the West End. I thought the clothes worn by the cast were very well presented, ironed and pressed to perfection.
We were surprised to have a meal, very fresh and enjoyable – thanks to the the ‘back room’ staff.
Just one thing, I thought that Kate sang and performed very well but I would say that wouldn’t I.
Hope I will be able to come to the next show.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Reader
Just a quick note to say that the Race Night has been postponed. The organiser of the event said that it was highly unlikely we would make a profit with 25 people attending, in fact it could make a loss.
We are very aware that are many other events happening on the same night and therefore we have decided to postpone the Race Night until August (date to be announced soon)

We would like to announce KVODS 2010 shows – please see below.
31st May – 4th June 2010 (provisional dates)
Following the huge success of Smokey Joe’s Café last week we have decided to perform a similar show at the same venue next year. It will be a compilation show of songs from past & present west end shows. The exact title is still to be confirmed but it will be arranged, directed, musically directed and choreographed by Dave Roberts.
November 2010 (date to be confirmed)
To contrast with the west end compilation show next May we have decided that our November 2010 show will be a Gilbert & Sullivan operetta with a twist! As such we will be performing HMS ‘Starship’ Pinafore. This will be performed in a purpose built theatre and will be directed by Jeff Raggett.
We hope that either one or both of these shows interest you!
Julie
